Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2019-2020
In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description
A huge semi-sphere covers our entire moon camp. Inside this semi-sphere, there are smaller semi-spheres. Each of them is a room that astronauts will use. |

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?
Close to the Lunar Poles Why did you choose this location?
On the lunar poles, the sun almost always shines. So, the poles have higher temperatures that are good for humans and enough sunlight to grow plants and produce electricity from solar panels. There is also water ice that can be mined and used as a source of water on the moon. |

Astronauts will build robots that can mine the water ice on the moon. Then, they will melt the water ice to produce drinkable water. Astronauts can also recycle the water they make to save as much water as possible. |
Astronauts can eat astronaut food they get with them from Earth. They can also eat the plants they grow in the moon camp. |
Because there is a lot of sunlight on the lunar poles, solar energy can produce electricity using solar panels. Then, batteries in the powerhouse of the moon camp can store the extra power. |
The plants that astronauts will plant on the moon will produce oxygen. They can also heat regolith when they need to. |
How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?
Astronauts will need to get some materials from Earth, such as concrete and metal. They will also need to get polyethylene to protect astronauts from meteors and radiation. Astronauts will then use these materials with lunar soil to build anything they need on the moon. |

The Moon environment is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.
Astronauts will build the pods from polyethylene. Polyethylene will protect them from radiation and meteors. Also, there is a pool for astronauts to use during solar flares. Astronauts can also wear armor and protective suits to protect themselves. |

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts
In the morning, astronauts will wake up, have breakfast, and wear their spacesuits. Then, they will spend their time having memorable adventures. They can travel around the moon and look for unusual and valuable samples. Then, they can go back to their camp and experiment on these samples. |
