We were inspired by the ESA and Foster Architects’s ideas for a 3d-printed lunar base and the science behind the moon’s gravity and landscape. We learnt that there are three main places on the moon where a lunar based could potentially be built – the poles, the dark side of the moon and in lava tubes. Using these ideas, we sketched our own lunar bases and then chose one of these sketches to create as a 3d model in Tinkercad. We learnt how to use and transform different 3d shapes and joined or cut out these shapes out to build our moon base models. Some of us decided we would build our bases on the surface and some of us imagined the bases being underground. We hope you enjoy looking at our 3d models.
