The base it situated in a crater on the north-pole of Mercury. The base is complete covered in the side of the crater to give protection against meteorites and radiation. There is space for six people to live completely self-sufficient. The electricity is generated by solar panels. The ice in the crater is used for drinking water and to make oxygen and hydrogen through electrolysis. The hydrogen can be used as fuel. All the water in the base is recycled, creating a water-oxygen cycle. The food is grown on site. Different types of edible plants will be grown. Crickets are also kept for food. The base is made of aluminium plates with a layer of polyethylene in between to block the radiation.
