Project description
VitaMoon, located near the Schakleton Crater in the Southern hemisphere of the Moon, contains three main parts: Greenhouse, Exterior and Interior Units. Exterior Units include Main Communication Ground Satellite, Defence Satellite to take precautions against meteorites, scout drone with propellers powered by magnetic thrusters. There is also a CNC Counter and a 3D printer designed to build the structure on the Moon, as it is difficult to bring the parts and the Camp itself from Earth to the Moon. As well as the parabolic dish and photovoltaic solar panels placed in the sunny southern part of the camp, there is a biomass reactor that converts organic waste from humans and plants into CH4 to generate energy. One of VitaMoon’s main goals is to provide a renewable energy source for the cultivation of plants on the Moon and lead the efforts to establish life there. The greenhouse designed for this purpose constitutes the upper floor of our camp. The entrance door opens into a partition room before the greenhouse, which is used to keep the pressure balance inside the greenhouse. The area in the center of the greenhouse contains stairs to the ground floor and cabinets for spacesuits. The main part of the greenhouse includes shelves for vertical cultivation of plants. Each shelf has a layer of sponge and vermiculite, heater and condenser systems, LED and fiber optic cables for soil less agriculture. Fiber optic cables transmit the Sun’s rays to the plants, which are collected from a parabolic dish placed outside the camp. This parabolic dish contains a dish that will collect the Sun’s rays first and a cold mirror that will send the rays reflected by the dish back to its center where the fiber optic cables are connected. The LED, the condenser system that is used to re-water the water produced by the plant’s perspiration and the heaters are powered by photovoltaic solar panels. The ponds in the greenhouse are designed for algae and cyanobacteria to photosynthesize, and fish are also included to ensure the ecosystem and CO2 cycle. The oxygen obtained in there is transferred to the living units through the Atmosphere Revitalization System. The living units are located on the lower floor of the greenhouse. There are two bedrooms for three people each, including bathrooms. The personal need and entertainment room is intended to provide the social and physical activities astronauts do on Earth. It includes a library, bean chairs, sports and music equipment. In the infirmary section, there are beds, medicines and first aid supplies for astronauts who are injured or have health problems during the camp. The kitchen includes a table for 6 people and basic kitchen utensils. Organic fruits and vegetables obtained from the plant cultivation are used as food. As well as Laboratory; Atmosphere Revitalization System, which includes a pressure booster and oxygen tanks, and the Earth Connection & Control Room, the Engine Room which includes air conditioning, Hydrogen Generators for energy production, water treatment and recycling units is also located here.
