Project description

The various infrastructure incorporated in the exterior design has been carefully crafted to meet the needs of the camp and its residents. The consists of a residential area which is composed of 4 rooms and a greenhouse that is linked to it to allow for the astronauts to access it without difficulty. The camp’s location was cautiously selected to be on the rim of the Shackleton Crater to harness sunlight for electricity, study rocks and regolith, and finally since ice is present at the bottom of the crater. An ice drill is situated in the crater to extract the ice to allow for the consummation of water. The communication system is constructed of an large antenna dish and a relay satellite in LLO (Low Lunar Orbit) to achieve efficient and rapid communication of data and speech between mission control on Earth and the lunar camp. Overall, these structures enable the lunar camp to function effectively, efficiently and smoothly.

The interior has been designed to suit the needs of the astronauts, thus it is capable of fulfilling scientific tasks and support the astronauts’ needs . Our interior design consists of a bedroom that is equipped with two bunk beds and bathroom . The computer laboratory effectively serves entertainment needs as well as digital needs through the room’s powerful computer . Furthermore, a gym is situated in the facility to ensure that the occupants of the base can remain healthy even under the lower gravitational pull of the moon. Additionally the camp’s living room can provide the occupants with a place to relax and replenish their energy, thus complementing to the overall comfort of the occupants. Lastly, the kitchen situated in camp competently provides the occupants a place to enjoy and prepare food. To conclude the interior  satisfies astronauts’ needs and has been carefully revised various times to ensure that the facility is functioning efficiently.
