Project description
About the Lab
This is Hanaé and Mira’s Space Base, it is to be used for space research on the moon. The Space Base is underground on the moon to protect from asteroids. The research in this laboratory is mostly studying unknown specimens like rocks, unusual plants or searching for life. There is a big screen in the top right corner with a picture of the solar system; the screen can be used for lots of different things like presenting research and viewing images from connected satellites. In the main room, there is a big glass case with space kits including a helmet and a suit for astronauts to change into for Space walks and expeditions. On the sides of the room there are tables to use for studying specimens or conducting research. Close to the wall on the left is a little shelf, on which there are hydroponic plants that produce a small part of the oxygen in the room (the rest is pumped into the room through big oxygen tanks brought from Earth). In the center of the Base is a rocket that is used for further research, it can also be used for emergencies like quakes or other evacuation situations.
Rooms Represented on the Sketch:
**Each room includes shelves of hydroponic plants in order to aid in oxygen production
Dormitories
There will be a girls room and a boys room. In each room there will be: toilets, a shower, a shelf with plants to help produce oxygen, and 5 beds that will be vertically stacked as there is very little gravity.
Kitchen
The kitchen is not really a kitchen as the food is already prepared. It is in plastic containers that are attached to the wall with a knife and a fork next to it.
Exercise
There will be a room where astronauts can exercise as it is important even if you are in space. According to space experts, astronauts must exercise approximately 2 hours per day when they are in space, to weaken the effects of zero gravity on their bones and muscles and to keep their muscles strong and their bones healthy.
