Project description

Our modern base uses an expandable and modular design, using pods. Each pod has a specific function and contains enough space to lead to another pod if the camp ever gets further developed by the company. The large glass pod contains a hydroponics zone, where some herbs and the centrepiece, the tomato plant grow to provide food for the astronauts. Next, there are two circular dome-shaped pods. The first contains a lab, where astronauts can test samples of the rocks and objects on the moon, which can pave the future for a full city or habitat for everyone to go to the moon. The second dome contains a gym, with specialised space equipment to help astronauts stay healthy and fit on the moon. These two pods connect to a silo-shaped pod, which includes the boilers and electric connectors to power and heat the camp. Finally, there is the largest structure, containing three rooms. The central room is the sleeping quarters, in which astronauts can rest and regenerate throughout the day. On one side of the central room is the door to the cafeteria, where astronauts can enjoy their long-lasting canned and dried foods and foods grown in the hydroponics lab. For hygiene and health, there is a bathroom facility containing toileting and washing equipment. The storage quarter is on the other side of the large building, where long-lasting foods, scientific samples and equipment can be stored.

Even with all of this, protection is not compromised. The exterior of the camp is coated in an ultra-hard, futuristic forcefield protection against asteroid attacks. The material also blocks all extreme weather conditions experienced on the moon, allowing the internal camp environment to be regulated safely for human habitat. The interior of the camp has special machines on the roof, counteracting the low gravity and pressure in space so astronauts can walk around freely.
