Project description

Considering the climate conditions of Mars are most similar to Earth, making it more suitable for future human colonization, we have chosen Mars as our planet of choice. The specific location selected is the Arcadia Planitia because it offers potential water ice resources and is at a lower altitude, facilitating spacecraft landings. It is close to the equator, receiving ample sunlight, which aids in utilizing solar energy. Additionally, the flat terrain facilitates camp construction. The camp is designed with both surface and underground sections. Bedrooms and such are situated underground to minimize exposure to solar radiation and reduce the risk of potential meteorite impacts.

Materials for the camp include titanium alloy, chosen for its lightweight, high-strength properties, excellent corrosion resistance, and suitability for constructing structural components and equipment on Mars.

To ensure long-term habitation on Mars, we need to provide and efficiently utilize the following essential resources:1. Water resources: We plan to drill deep underground to extract ice and melt it into water, which will be filtered for drinking and other purposes. Additionally, we’ll collect and recycle various types of wastewater generated during life processes. 2. Oxygen: Through the process of molten electrolysis, we intend to heat oxygen-containing rocks to 1600-2500 degrees to produce oxygen, while also preparing high-purity metal materials. 3. Food: Various crops will be cultivated using hydroponics to produce food. 4. Energy: Solar power will be the primary source of energy, with foldable solar panels designed to rotate with the sun.

The main purpose of our camp is scientific research. Geological surveys will be conducted on Mars, along with research on how to fully utilize Martian resources for constructing housing facilities. We will also attempt to cultivate a wider variety of plants or other organisms to enrich the ecosystem and lay the groundwork for future human colonization of Mars.
