Project description
The purpose of constructing a camp on Mars is to prepare for it to become a second habitable place for humans in the future. To solve the food problem on Mars, we focus on studying the soil on Mars in order to genetically modify plant seeds to adapt to the conditions of Martian soil. Taking into account the long-term objectives of Mars exploration and human habitation, we have selected a site for our camp construction in the Elysium Mons lava flow region, located southeast of the Martian Utopia Planitia. This area is rich in geothermal energy, which can effectively alleviate our energy demands. Moreover, the prevalent “lava tubes” found underground offer a natural shield against a significant portion of space radiation. Our construction scheme involves using perforation robot to perform perforation tasks on the Martian surface, followed by the deployment of 3D printing robot module to construct the preliminary structures of the base, with VR technology utilized for remote and precise control and construction to finesse complex architectural elements.
To guarantee the safety of our astronauts, we intend to build primary facilities within these lava tubes, which will not only effectively protect humans from harmful radiation but also minimize potential damage from meteorite impacts. On Mars, we will make full use of local resources to support our astronauts’ long-term survival.
We will extract the rich water ice deposits underground and process them for consumption. Regarding sustenance, we will employ the Air Company’s technology to transform carbon dioxide into protein and cultivate genetically modified rice using hydroponics to adapt to Mars’ unique soil conditions.
For energy needs, we will implement a diverse range of energy acquisition methods, including electricity generation from solar panels, production of methane as a fuel for power generation, and the establishment of small-scale nuclear reactors. Furthermore, we will produce oxygen through the process of water electrolysis to meet respiratory requirements. With these integrated strategies, our camp will become a self-sustaining ecosystem, providing a secure and comfortable environment for our astronauts to live and work.
Our Mars camp construction project is designed to establish a robust platform for human exploration and research on Mars, while also laying the groundwork for permanent human settlement. By harnessing the resources of Mars, we are confident that this camp will be the first permanent human outpost on the Red Planet, marking a significant milestone in humanity’s journey into the cosmos.
