Project description
Outer space has always been a fascinating place and a source of great curiosity for mankind. The first missions to explore space, from the Moon to Mars, began in the 1950s. Mankind began to look for ways to live in space, designing homes and space stations with areas for work (scientific laboratories, study areas, construction, etc.), as well as for survival and rest (bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, energy production areas and bio-regenerative plants).
The space race is crucial to human development, as the technologies developed for these missions can be adapted for terrestrial uses. For example, the vacuum cleaner was developed from the needs of space missions.
The design of a space base is very complex, as it requires not only the organisation of space, but also economic and durable solutions.
The space station, located on Mars, can accommodate a maximum of six people. It is built on a hill, with some modules supported by pillars and others resting on the ground or partially buried. To generate energy, the structure is equipped with external solar panels connected to the interior by underground cables. To provide food and oxygen, there is a bio-regenerative module full of plants, grown with water from the sewage treatment plant (which is also used as a source of drinking water) and lamps that replicate sunlight so that the plants can grow at night. A module for managing the activities of the facility, such as waste management, electricity, property repairs and security, is also included.
The space station is equipped with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a lounge and a recreation area for normal daily activities, rest, and recreation. A very important area of the station is the garage, where all the vehicles and equipment necessary for transporting people and cargo to other facilities on the planet can be stored.
To build the structure and transport the equipment from Earth to Mars, a spacecraft or rocket is needed, which will land on a platform after a three-month journey. This rocket is not only useful for transporting tools, but also people, supplies, and spare parts. The interiors are all tailored to ensure that all spaces are utilised to the full by avoiding empty areas.
