Project description

  1. Our moon camp is called Sunniva. It is named after a Norwegian word of origin, meaning “sun gift”. The name serves as a reminder of the sun’s importance to humanity and what it provides as we reach out beyond Earth. Situated underground, it provides protection from the dangers of the cosmos. Our camp will be designed for three astronauts, providing everything needed for them to thrive. The base’s aim is towards self reliability and proving that living on the moon full time is possible. This base is built underground for maximum protection. The use of inflatables within the lava tubes makes it simpler and less expensive to set up as opposed to regolith shells. Nearly all materials are recycled or from the moon. Once established, the moon base will be able to solely rely on itself, with minimal resupplies. The moon’s natural resources like water ice, regolith, and sunlight will be used to provide a safe habitat for the astronauts.

The entire camp is designed to have an ecosystem within it. Each component provides benefits. With a gym, kitchen, garden, labs, and rest areas, it provides the home for astronauts with every essential. The gym and rest areas support the physical health, and the mental.

Every part of this camp is designed for astronauts’ wellbeing in mind, allowing further advancements for humanity.
