Project description

We think it’s one of the most exciting planets to create, explore and discover. Knowing that in real life, scientists and astronauts are trying to discover the sign of life on Mars, it is not yet confirmed, but this is what intrigued us the most, that there may have been life there before. So, using „Tinker Cad“, we tried to create a habitat.

Due to a big temperature difference from Earth during day and night our astronauts have special equipment and spacesuits which allow them to feel safe throughout their expedition in a foreign planet. Our team who are staying in the camp consists of a man and a woman, who are great professionals in their job.

Our camp, where the astronauts will live and work is divided into seven domes, they are connected by tunnels. Domes let in only a certain amount of heat that the human body can withstand, and all the remaining thermal energy is retained and released during the night. Everything was brought with two other rockets (Astronauts flew with another rocket) who were big enough to transport the needed things. The two rockets came back to Earth, but when needed they’ll come back to deliver things back.

First dome is made for living. This includes sleeping, place for dining, relaxing. It also has a bathroom. We think, it is very important to have such area, because working in space can be stressful and difficult, also this dome makes astronauts feel closer to home.

Second dome – gym, also very important space designed for astronauts. We chose to do a gym, because, it‘s very important to care about astronaut’s physical health. Human‘s body goes through many difficulties while being in space, where gravity laws do not exist. By exercising every day, astronauts can prevent themselves from having muscle and joint problems after coming back to Earth.

Next, there’s another two places used for storing water and food reserves. In there you can find water tank and water bottles, food packets and products that are specialized and packed for consuming in space, this includes coffee and tea, instant noodles, canned food, mixtures…

Near that is an area for growing vegetables. This dome has the same principle as the greenhouse. There’s a high level of humidity and solar energy and  automatic irrigation system (water comes from the tank). This  is not only used for growing certain plants and vegetables, but it is also taken as a chance to explore the possibilities of growing something in Mars.

Another dome is laboratory – this area is used for working; research, experiments, calculations, observations, discussions, investigations, etc. In our opinion this is very important, because astronauts are coming to the planet for one goal – to explore. In the lab, astronauts are able to use microscopes, calculators, colbas, computers and notebooks needed for work.  In the same lab, there is a big board/screen made for looking at diagrams and other results, also with  this they can contact their collogues from the Earth.

Lastly, garage – where astronauts are keeping their tools needed for work such as their special equipment, costumes, other technologies and obviously, there‘s also Mars rover. Our camp is simple, but the same time, has a very detailed and interesting design. We think such camp could exist in real time.
