Project description

Our project focuses on researching and improving living conditions on the Moon. We are aware of the current challenges that future settlers will face, so we are focusing on developing the most favourable bases on the Moon. Our innovative idea includes building underground tunnels for transportation and underground bases, which would enable safe and efficient movement between different bases and reduce exposure to surface hazards such as meteorites, extreme temperatures, and radiation. This would allow for a more sustainable and comfortable life for lunar residents. Our goal is to create an infrastructure that will enable the development of long-term colonies and lunar exploration while maintaining safety and comfort for all residents. By combining technological and engineering solutions, we aim to build a better future for humanity beyond Earth. Our base is designed for 8 people. In it, we find all the necessary supplies for normal life and research. This base could easily sustain 8 people for a longer period. However, over time, it could potentially become a permanent residence. Basic resources such as water would be obtained through delivery from Earth via rocket. Food would be mostly self-produced in specialized areas designated for growing plants (greenhouses). These would be cultivated using a special hydroponic system. Simultaneously, we would reduce waste by utilizing natural waste as fertilizer. To provide energy, we use a combination of solar panels and RTGs (radioisotope thermoelectric generators). Finally, to ensure a breathable atmosphere, we utilize electrolysis to separate water into oxygen and hydrogen. This process provides a sustainable source of oxygen for our astronauts, enabling safe breathing in an environment distant from Earth. For communication, we would use special satellites. The system operates by deploying a network of small communication satellites into lunar orbit, forming a connected network. These satellites serve as relay points for transferring data between various devices on the lunar surface and Earth-based centres. Due to the low gravity and absence of atmosphere on the Moon, it is possible to place satellites in lower orbits, enabling faster data transfers and reducing communication delays.
