Project description
We are planning to establish a camp on the equatorial plain of Mars that closely resembles Earth’s environment, enabling astronauts to conduct scientific research and exploration safely and efficiently with the assistance of robots. The aim is to create a livable, comfortable, and intelligent space for Martian scientific research.The plan begins with the deployment of construction robots that will utilize 3D printing technology to build a lifting platform base. This ensures that during extreme storms, the base can safely shelter underground, protecting against natural disasters. Subsequently, an automated construction scheme will be employed, combining inflatable airbags, carbon fiber skeletons, and other advanced materials to construct an integrated base. Once the base is completed, astronauts will be safely transported to Mars via a transportation rocket.The base will feature a diverse range of compartments, including those for control, maintenance, leisure, sleeping, sports, medical, waste treatment, and experimentation. It will also be equipped with scientific research facilities in the volcanic crater area. The control compartment has a detachable function, enabling it to activate a spacecraft mode in emergency situations for rapid evacuation from Mars. The maintenance compartment focuses on the upkeep of robots and spacesuits. The leisure compartment provides astronauts with a recreational space that recreates the atmosphere of Earth. The sports compartment is equipped with gravity simulation devices and diverse sports facilities to ensure the physical and mental well-being of astronauts. The waste treatment compartment facilitates resource recycling and environmental protection. The experimentation compartment is dedicated to improving Martian soil and cultivating crops and microorganisms.Additionally, we are paying special attention to volcanic landscapes, particularly the massive extinct volcano known as Night Mountain. Through geological exploration and remote sensing analysis, we have discovered that it may harbor glacial relics within its interior. This discovery is crucial in revealing the early climate and geological environment of Mars.To harness Martian resources, we have installed sunflower-inspired solar panels and spherical solar cells outside the compartments. These panels adjust their angles as the sun moves, maximizing solar energy absorption. During storms, the solar panels can automatically retract to reduce wear and tear. The Mars rover is not only responsible for the daily transportation of astronauts but also possesses Martian reconnaissance capabilities. Furthermore, we have developed modular reconnaissance vehicles that can be flexibly combined to meet various collection needs.The base is equipped with an intelligent color control system. Under normal conditions, it presents a warm light mode, while in the event of an abnormality, it switches to a red alert mode to reduce energy consumption. In the case of a severe threat to the base, an evasion mechanism will be activated, lowering the base to the ground. Personnel can then enter the rocket through an elevator to ensure a safe evacuation.This Mars camp plan integrates advanced technology with humanistic care, aiming to provide solid support for long-term exploration and survival research on Mars.
