Project description

Hello, welcome to our habitat on Mars. Our team name is Astro Explorers made of the 4 astronauts Henry, Daim, Joe, and Xander and we will show you around our well-designed habitat. Please look around, as we put our full effort into it. We hope that our habitat is an enjoyable and livable environment.

We have a gym, for your daily workout to stay fit and healthy and to tackle some of the main problems which are bone loss, muscle wasting, and cardiovascular problems. As well as the gym, we also have the cafeteria, where all the nutritious meals will keep you healthy throughout your life on Mars; another thing we have in our habitat we would like to show you is the science lab. Quite an important part of our habitat, there are a lot of experimental chemicals and equipment in our science lab so we can find new ways to keep healthy and research new species of plants and animals.

The next thing following the lab is our theatre. Our theatre is an eco-friendly, relaxing place to go after a stressful day on Mars. It has a TV screen with rows of relaxable chairs you can sit back and relax on. We have the rocket inside so you can see what the rocket looks like on the inside as you would need basic living quarters on the journey. We also have essential living spaces including a bathroom, bedroom, and gaming room.

The rovers are essential to the base as Mars soil is toxic and exposing humans to too much of it can kill them. Despite that, they need specially designed suits to survive going outside. One of the main things we need to live is oxygen as Mars does not have enough oxygen so we have made a pump to transport oxygen from the oxygen tank to the main base. The base is located near the poles so we have icebergs to mine for water.

Our farm is self-sufficient as we use treated human feces to fertilise the crops. For the farm, we had to use soil brought from Earth as Mars soil lacks nitrogen so the crops would die. We also have medicine and all of our astronauts can do first aid.

As it is too long of a journey from the Earth to Mars we have made a basic moon hub that enables us to have a break from the long journey. We have a small farm which allows us to grow crops as well as bring small organisms. For example a tree. The reason we could use other living species is to see how they grow and adapt on Mars.

We also have natural protection with our base being in a crater near the poles so it prevents radiation from affecting us as much as three years on mars exposes astronauts to 50 times as much radiation as they would in their whole career. This increases the risk of cancer.
