Project description

In the future in order to allow astronauts to stay on the moon for long periods of time, new infrastructures must be developed. Protection against radiation and meteorites, energy production, water extraction and recycling food are all challenges that astronauts will have to face. That’s why it would be necessary to find solutions to the difficulties that astronauts could encounter by proposing space-based ideas.
We must build buildings so that our astronauts can live, covering the entire base to create an atmosphere for the astronauts: if we put a dome over the base and some trees inside, we would have breathable air. In space there would be a satellite for internet connection and we placed some solar panels that would provide electricity and produce hot water. In the buildings we installed a gym to stay healthy. We thought about a fish-based nutrition system, complete with heat generators to keep animals alive.
Our moon camp consists of three domes: one for astronauts to live in, one for oxygen production thanks to plants and a laboratory. It also features a meteorite defense system. For mobility we’ve implemented a rover and to travel between Earth and the Moon a rocket was also made.

Our astronauts have various motivations to go to the moon. This might encompass scientific research, exploration of potential resources, development of new technologies for future space travel and the establishment of a sustainable human presence on the moon. Additionally the moon could serve as an ideal spot for astronomical observation due to its lack of atmosphere providing a unique environment for certain astronomical research.

We chose to build our mooncamp near the lunar poles because there is ice that we can transform into water. The construction of our moon camp involves using resources available on the moon including lunar megalith for structures, solar radiations for energy and the search for water ice for water consumption and production. Initially crucial elements such as survival equipment, pressurized habitats and construction tools may need to be imported from Earth. However as lunar infrastructures advance the reliance on Earth resources could decrease fostering greater autonomy.

For the mooncamp exploration missions are necessary to assess the resources and develop the technology sustainable for more moon exploration. The astronauts have to be very well trained because the gravity is less strong than on Earth the astronauts but must also have a good quality for life to survive these extreme conditions.
