Moon Camp Pioneers 2022 – 2023 Project Gallery

In Moon Camp Pioneers, each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using the software of their choice. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangers of space and describe the living and working facilities in their Moon Camp.

1.1 – Project Description

First, our camp will be built underground. We imagined the main room that will be used for everyday life (to eat and interact). It will also be used to link to different spaces between them. The spaces will be divided into : a vertical farm space, the bedrooms, a dedicated space for searches and a garage.

1.2 – Why do you want to build a Moon Camp? Explain the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example scientific, commercial and/or touristic purposes).

We wanted to build an underground Moon Camp for scientific purposes. The main one is to see if humankind can survive or live on the Moon and the second one is to make searches from the Moon ground.

2.1 – Where do you want to build your Moon Camp? Explain your choice.

We wanted to build the Moon Camp underground, at the level of the Moon’s equator because we wanted it to catch the longest amount of sunlight in a day. It will be near the Far Side of the moon so that we will be able to explore it.

2.2 – How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Consider how you can utilise the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth. Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices.

We want to build our moon camp underground with pieces which are brought from Earth. The pieces make it possible to build the moon camp faster and more easily.

2.3 – How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment?

We want to build our moon camp underground to protect the camp against the moon’s harsh environment as the meteorites.

3.1 – How will your Moon Camp provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power?

The food is provided from vertical farm space which is situated in a specific room inside the moon camp.

The power provide from solar panels and another part of the electricity will be created with the bike when the astronaut do sport

In the beginning the water was brought from Earth and next the astronauts will build a recycle system.

3.2 – How will your Moon Camp deal with the waste produced by the astronauts on the Moon?

The organic waste will be transformed into compost and will be reused to go to the vertical farm.

The other wastes will go back to Earth.

3.3 – How will your Moon Camp maintain communications with Earth and other Moon bases?

The moon camp maintains communication with Earth using satellites and with the other Moon Camps, an underground network passage.

4.1 – What scientific topic(s) would be the focus of the research in your Moon Camp? Explain which experiments you plan to do on the Moon (for example in the topics of geology, low gravity environment, biology, technology, robotics, astronomy etc.).

We want to learn “how the man would survive on the moon” and “how to exploit the lunar rock” . We want to have experiences with plants and perfect the communication with Earth and explore the moon surface.

5.1 – What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

We want the astronauts to do more physical exercises and learn gardening and building to be able to build the moon camp alone. They will learn some languages and be able to communicate with people all around the world (journalists, scientists, engineers, …). They will be able to solve important issues and imagine new experiments.

5.2 – What space vehicles will your future Moon mission need? Describe the vehicles found in your Moon camp and consider how you will travel to and from Earth, and explore new destinations on the Moon’s surface.

We need buggies and rovers to travel and do excursions. We travel in a space rocket to come back to Earth.
