In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Describe your Moon Camp project.

The main purpose of our moon camp project is to build a moon camp in the possible habitation of the moon. Scientists can simulate life on the moon camp, see if they can live on the moon for a long time, and carry out some scientific research and Exploration on the moon

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

I’d like to build in an area close to the sun’s permanent exposure, and there should be some ice nearby. Because sunlight can be used to generate solar energy for daily electricity consumption, and water is the source of life, the ice on the moon can be transformed into the domestic water needed by people through a series of transformations

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.

Use 3D printing technology to build the outer wall of the camp, build a hemispherical type, add anti radiation materials close to its interior, and then use inflatable residential module inside. Using this method, the hydroponics room, the oxygen making room and the fitness room are established successively. They are connected with each other by semicircle channels, and each hemispherical type is connected with an air lock chamber. Build solar panels around the camp to collect solar energy for power generation

It was brought from the earth in the early stage, and then it searched for water on the moon in the later stage, or looked for ice and transformed it into water through a series of reactions.

in the early stage, it was brought to the earth and stored in the middle of the camp. In the later stage, a plant breeding room was built in the camp. Food such as cabbage and potatoes were used for hydroponics in an LED irradiated closed greenhouse.

Set up solar panels on and around the camp, use sunlight to generate solar energy to obtain energy, and use electrolytic separation method to separate hydrogen as fuel.

The basic principle of building an electrolytic water oxygen plant in the camp is to decompose the water into hydrogen and oxygen by the ionization decomposition method. Oxygen is delivered to every corner of the camp through the ventilation system of the camp

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

Moon camp’s living room is a hemispherical camp built with anti radiation materials, which can prevent astronauts from being hit by meteorites and solar radiation. The residential outdoor is connected with an airlock chamber, which can block the outdoor or adjacent air flow and control the air pressure difference between the inside and outside.

 

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

In the morning, after the astronauts wash, they exercise in the fitness room in the morning, then eat breakfast, check whether the equipment is abnormal in the base and record the plant growth in the plant breeding room, and then carry out scientific research in the base. After lunch, the astronauts put on their spacesuits and went to the outside of the camp for scientific exploration, looking for water and ice, collecting and studying rocks on the moon, exploring unknown fields, etc., to explore the mystery of the moon. After finishing the outdoor work, return to the camp for dinner. After dinner, record the day’s itinerary research, then relax in the camp, and finally return to their bedrooms to sleep.
