Moon Camp Explorers Galeria 2019-2020

Opis projektu

With Imagine camp, we decided to build a campus consisting of 11 rooms. Our priority is to create an ecosystem such that we can stay for days meeting our all needs. We are aware that the temperature of the moon’s atmosphere is highly variable, meteors are dangerous and there is no air within its atmospheric composition knowing oxygen is the most important element for our lives. We found solutions regarding these conditions. A greenhouse is built to produce oxygen and foods. Also, energy is generated using our solar cars. We cannot move much because there is no gravity however a gym and a swimming pool exist in the campus to keep our muscles strong. Since there is no air in its atmosphere and we cannot hear sounds, a satellite is set to communicate with each other. We are ready to make scientific investigations and explore new ideas!

Gdzie chcesz zbudować swój Moon Camp?

Dlaczego wybrałeś tę lokalizację?

We chose this location because they are appropriate in terms of both temperature and surface area, which are almost 300 meters wide and 40 meters deep. We planned to place our solar panels and the satellite onto the ground while all the rooms can easily be built beneath it. It is possible to be protected from the severe space temperatures which are approximately -20°C in average when we build our Moon Camp on these locations. Also these areas are under solar lights, which is very important because we generate energy using our solar panels and store them in our storages. These energies generated are enough to sustain our lives in the Moon.

The ice masses below the ground are turning into water after taking them out of their reservoirs. To perform this process, first we dug the ground with our drilling machine and heating robot which is a robot developed to emit heat. The water abstracted is transported to our living areas via pipes. Because we know this is not enough, we constructed a water treatment plant. In addition to the water treatment plant, a wastewater treatment plant was constructed to reuse the wastewater we generated. There are air tanks, water tanks, pumps and water effluent tanks in this system.

It is a fact that we should plant crops to sustain our lives in the Moon. Since direct sunlight on crops makes them decay, a big greenhouse is built. The sunlight does not exist for 14 days and exist for the same amount of time, which makes us to build solar panels and energy storage tanks on this greenhouse. Our greenhouse is created by Spirulina algae and some other plants.

We brought many solar panels with us, which are placed on our solar cars. These cars can be controlled with the satellite. The solar radiation absorbed by the panel is stored within its battaries, and this energy stored are distributed to all devices.

Plants use photosynthesis to produce energy. In this process, solar light is captured and used to convert water, carbon dioxide and minerals into oxygen and energy-rich organic compounds. The Spirulina algae produce oxygen in our campus.

Jak zamierzasz zbudować swój Moon Camp? Jakich materiałów użyjesz?

The main material we will use is Polyethylene, which is protective against solar radiation. It is a versatile, hydrophobic and rigid material, which isolates electricity. The rooms in the camp are connected with corridors to prevent oxygen loss. Outer surfaces of the rooms are transparent, which helps our astronauts see and easily communicate with each other. We have 11 rooms in total and they are constructed below the ground to be protected from the meteors. Our solar panels are must. For our communication with each other and the Earth, we have our satellite. This is done by lasers.

Our astronauts wear an outfit made from polyethylene which protects them from solar radiations. Also, they are less exposed to the radiations with our room plan. They only go out of the camp to make their explorations and scientific investigations. There are a library and computer labs to be able to make scientific search and other implementations. Since our camp area is constructed under the ground, they are protected from this dangerous environment. They cannot move much because there is no gravity however a gym and a swimming pool exist in the campus to keep their muscles strong.

Opisz dzień na Księżycu dla jednego z astronautów z Moon Camp.

Our astronaut since camp walls are transparent, she can see all campus. First,The wastewater our astronaut generated is put into the water tank, this wastewater is conveyed to wastewater treatment plant for water reuse. Then, They control the plants in the greenhouse, leave their oxygen tank to refill. She makes their breakfast with the plants she collected. Afterwards, they control all solar panels, energy storage tanks in the facility. Since gym is very important for their health, they go to gym, do their daily workouts. After all these, they go to the computer lab. Since she will make investigations with her colleague during the day, she has to make some scientific survey. Also, she goes to the library to read some materials related to their research. At this time, she calls other astronaut, they meet in the recycling room where all plastics they used are put into a recycling machine to convert them into useful products. In an article published by Dr. Peter James in 2019, it’s mentioned that a big mass has been discovered on the biggest crater of the Moon. Our astronauts aim to find this mass by going out with their polyethylene outfit, oxygen tanks. They make their investigations with curiosity. Finally, they leave the investigations locations and go back to their camping area. To eliminate the radiation accumulated on them they swim. After swimming, they take their field notes on the computers. At the end of the day, they watch the sky together in the sitting room.
