Moon Camp Pioneers Galerija 2019-2020

Our mooncamp is designed generally for 6 astronauts, they will exchange with new ones by 6 months. The main purpose of our mooncamp is research of the moon surface. Moon camp consists of 7 containers: 2 garages (these containers will be used as parking slots for our moon vehicles), a greenhouse (which is going to produce food and air), a laboratory (there will be research equipment and 2 beds), a maintaince module (there are going to be bateries, docking slots for spacesuits, …), a service module (with the main computer, the airlock, …), a gym (with training machines, life support systems), crew quaters (with beds, showers, storages). They will be transported to the Moon individually with its own equipment. On the Moon they will be assembled together. The design of the containers allows easy expansion as we will transport more modules there.

Kje želite zgraditi svoj Moon Camp?

The base will be built near the North pole. At the Noth pole we can use the sun as a source of power, since it is sunny almost always. Theoretically, there is supposed to be water in the craters.

As we land on the moon, we are going to dig up small holes (30cm) for our containers. Each container will have small wheels, on which our modules are going to be transported to their final destination. After that the transporting system will be removed by astronauts. After that, we are going to mount them to surface with big screws, so they can hold there no matter what the conditions are. After that, we will cover the sides and roof with regolith so only doors remain uncovered. This type of containers placement can be easily expand as we will bring there more modules over time.

Water is going to be taken from the ice on the bottom of craters or from lunar soil by a water extractor. This extractor will be placed outside of the greenhouse module. The Extracted water will be captured in a tank and flower beds in our greenhouse module. The greenhouse module will be airtight seperated from other modules by double transparent tarpaulin doors and there will be water filters in the air-conditioning system, so there won‘t be any moisture going out of the module to sensitive machines. There will be also water recyclation system.

Food will be provided from our „greenhouse“ module. In this module, we will grow different types of plants. There are 20 flowerbed drawers and one big flowerbed, with treillages for climbing plants (tomatoes, beans, …). However, there won’t be any sunlight in there, so plants will get energy from UV lamps on the roof and at the bottom of every drawer.

We will get power especially from the solar panels, installed near our base, but also from the radioisotope thermoelectric generator (RTG), located outside of our moonbase
(around 150m far away). Our base will have also reserve bateries, where we will store our electricity for later usage.

Air will be provided from our „greenhouse“ module. Plants in there are going to take CO2 and turn it into oxygen. This oxygen is going to be transported across all modules and supply the entire base. In addition, there is going to be recycling system too. This recycling system is located in our gym container. For emergency situations, there will be also CO2 filters. These filters are going to be located inside the same container as the recycling system. We will heat up or cool down the air and use it as our source of balancing the temperature.

Okolje na Luni je za astronavte zelo nevarno. Razložite, kako jih bo vaš tabor na Luni zaščitil.

Regolith on the top of the base will be main protection from environment on the. This regolith will protect our base from small asteroids, cosmic radiation, and it will also make thermic isolation from the outer tempreture. In our base are located fire extinguishers and emergency boxes with the first aid kits and a repair kit for fixing holes in our containers. Every container has airtight doors which can be closed and we can cut container out of air. Another danger is the moon dust which can easily get into sensitive machines and damage them, so we decided to use special spacesuits which are going to have docking ports on the back sides. Astronauts will connect spacesuits outside of the base and get throught the docking port on the back side of the spacesuit to the base. Spacesuits will not get inside the module.

Our astronauts will be generally awaken at 6:00, they will do their morning hygiene, eat their breakfast, check moonbase systems, and get prepared for daily work. At 7:30 they will connect to the main central on Earth so they can define their daily work and at 8:00 starts daily work. Some of them can do research of the Moon. With their buggines which will be located at the garage, some can go exercise to gym (at least for 2 hours) to keep fit, or can do research in laboratory. From 13:00 to 14:00 is lunch break. After lunch break they will work more until 19:00. At 19:00 they will meet at the main module, where they will connect again to central on Earth and decide what they are planning to do next day. At 19:30 their dinner starts. After dinner astronauts will check systems, do their evening hygiene and prepare the station for next day. At 21:30 they will go to their sleeping boxes. However, one astronaut will stay awake in case something unplanned happened. The Timezone is coordinated with Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
