Rockets are used for acceleration, changing orbits, re-entry orbits, for full landing if there is no atmosphere (e.g. Moon landing), and sometimes to soften a parachute landing just before impact on Earth (see Soyuz). . The core houses two large storage tanks: one for liquid hydrogen, the fuel, and one for liquid oxygen, which allows the fuel to burn. Together they are known as thrusters. Nozzle: part of the rocket through which the flowing fluid allows it to increase speed. F-1 Booster: Part of the rocket that allows it to take off. First stage: part of the rocket closest to the ground during liftoff. Intermediate compartment: part of the rocket that connects the first and second stages.
