About The Rover

This Rover is designed to travel to the moon and study its environment and surface. It will collect samples of rocks, soil and other specimens (like ice discovered by Chandrayaan I). It will also record temperature variations during day and night, click 360 degree pictures and even video where necessary. The Rover also carries a drone to explore areas where the Rover cannot travel itself.

The Body

  • The Rover is about the size of a car without its extendable drill and claw.
  • Its wheels are capable of offroading to drive on the rough and uneven surface of the moon.
  • It has a thruster to help it cover distances farther than the landing site. This thruster is powered by hydrogen.
  • Its body is made from special material to protect the equipment against harsh weather, heat radiation and accidents.
  • It carries a lot of research equipment to help study the moon. It also has a ‘cockpit’ to safely carry samples it collects from the moon.

Payloads/Research Equipment

  • Solar Panels to convert sunlight into electricity to power the rover and other equipment on board.
  • Ground scanner to continuously scan (with x-ray) the surface and get ready to dig and pick.
  • Drill to dig through the surface of the Moon and find samples.
  • Claw that can pick up the rock or soil samples dug up by the drill and can also remove obstacles from the rover’s path..
  • A mini weather station to measure the temperature, humidity, wind speed, etc on the Moon.
  • Cameras are attached to a rotating base to get 360 degree views and click pictures of surroundings. Small videos can also be transmitted to earth.
  • Microphones are attached to the drone to capture any sounds.
  • A Drone is also available to go to places where the rover cannot, check the rovers path to see if the rover can go any further.
