Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Our design has some parts on the surface and some parts in the lava tubes.  We put the recreation, sleeping, food growth, and labs underground for more protection.  On the surface we have; Observation station, water factory, a hanger for vehicles, and an oxygen algae pool on the surface.

Our project was too big for one tinkercad file so we built one that is the surface portion of the camp and one that is the underground part.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the Lunar Poles

Why did you choose this location?

We chose the poles so it will have less harsh weather with some of the facility underground for protection from the meteors.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

We plan to build our Lunar Base by building part of the base on the surface of the moon and part of it underground.  Probably a 3D printer and other space necessities

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

Moondust actually has water in it so we can generate water by a large mine.

Plants give some source of food.

We built a solar farm on the surface of the moon with a large battery pack protected by a tiny dome.

We have an algae farm and greenhouse to turn into air.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

The astronauts would wake up and get a drink of water or coffee, then they would exercise and get breakfast.  Next some would work in the lab, others work with the plants growing food and preparing meals, and others would work on the surface.  After work and dinner then they could have free time in the rec areas then go to sleep in the sleeping area.  Every few days they would have a chance to talk with their families on earth in the communication station on the surface.
