Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

The idea is that the camp is super equipped, it will have a farm, green house, “room for methane”, “house”, control room, corridors, center, entrance and exit, it will be located in the southern part of the elevated areas of the Moon in the Tycho crater. It will have as a barrier 11 layers of armored glass and in case that it does not protect from the impact, there will be a missile launch system that will destroy the meteors. The cattle will be 4 cows, 11 pigs, and 12 roosters / hens.

The crops will be hydroponic, for example tomato plants, potatoes, carrots, cabbages … The plants will make their own oxygen and in that room there will be special lights to replace the sunlight, but that room will have the same amount of oxygen as the others. Oxygen and water tanks will also be taken. The extreme temperatures will be supported because in the camp there will be an air conditioning system and it will also have a device capable of recreating the earth’s gravity (so as not to fly away).

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

The camp will be built with a metal alloy, the rooms will be square. To enter or exit you must enter a code (the code is 123456789987654321). The control room is where the barrier and missile launcher will be controlled from and will be protected in terms of how much electricity is required because if the camp were to short-circuit it would be left with most (if not all) of the functions disabled, so we would freeze or melt.

Before sending the astronauts, rockets with materials will be sent to build the camp and there will be water tanks of 5 kl of water.

They will take some food but what they will eat the most are shoots and hydroponic crops and some animals will be killed to eat them, they will also eat the eggs of the chickens and milk of the cows.

They will take a kind of batteries and hydraulic energy will be used. Also in case of an emergency there would be a kind of hamster wheel in which you would run to get electricity.

As with the water before, oxygen tanks with 10 kl of oxygen will be taken and the crops will also produce some oxygen, and to leave the camp oxygen cylinders will be taken.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

The house would consist of a kitchen, bathroom and 1 bedroom with a triple bunk where you would sleep.
The astronauts would wake up, eat and send the lunar rover to explore and collect samples of space rocks. An astronaut would accompany him and the others would stay collecting sprouts (or whatever there is), they would feed the cattle, clean the farm, collect eggs, check the barrier and look if a meteor would come, if no meteor was approaching the barrier would be deactivated and if an alarm sounds, the barrier would be activated. Then, they would cook and, when they were all there, they would have dinner and sleep.
