Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

A modern moon camp that is designed for 7 astronauts and has space for daily life and scientific investigation.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Near the southern ice cap craters

Why did you choose this location?

We chose this location because it provides sunlight and darkness for plants to grow easier so that they are not dying from zero sun. and the ice caps will be more accessible.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

Inflatable hexagons brought from earth and other building materials found on the moon.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

We will provide water by harvesting ice from the moon ice caps and lunar soil.

We will grow food in the green house to supplement yearly shipments from earth.

Our main power source will be solar panels that create a solar farm.

We will create oxygen by burning moon dust.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

Wake up, shower, eat breakfast (potatoes) in the cafeteria then go to the gym for a workout.  Relax in the recreation space for 30 minutes.  Next drive the rover to the ice caps to harvest some ice. Then return to the base to water potatoes.  After watering potatoes go help one or two other astronauts in the labs.  Eat lunch (more potatoes). Next, 30 minute relaxation break in the recreation area.  Followed by daily meeting with all astronauts in the hangspace to discuss updates in research and work.  As well as the presentation of the menu by the potato chef who invents new potato flavorings each week.  Once a week astronauts call home before heading to bed for 8 hours of sleep after a long 16 hours of being awake.
