Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Our lunar camp is made up of three parts: energy area; Planting area; Office and living area. The energy area is the main storage place of electric power, water resources, oxygen and other energy. Unified management through a huge “cellular” energy storage system. The planting area is mainly used to grow crops and trees to produce food and oxygen. The office area is a four storey building, with the first and second floors on the ground and the third and fourth floors underground. The first layer is mainly used to observe the lunar surface and lunar space. The second layer is mainly used for the rest area of astronauts.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

The poles of the moon

Why did you choose this location?

As we all know, there is a lot of ice at the poles of the moon. In our plan, we need a lot of water, so it’s good for us to build our base there. And the sunshine time at the two poles is longer.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

Use robots instead of astronauts to build bases. They will be sent to the moon with spare parts from the base. We plan to use toughened glass and on-site materials. The raw material is made of limestone contained in the lunar rock, water made from liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen and lunar sand.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

We will get water by melting the ice. To ensure the reuse of water resources to the greatest extent through water circulation system

We grow a lot of usable crops in the growing areas, and unmanned spaceships bring food supplies on a regular basis

There is enough light on the surface of the moon, so we use solar energy for power generation, but the time of light on the surface of the moon and the time of lack of light are very long, so we will store the excess energy and assist nuclear power generation to ensure the emergency.

Oxygen is made from electrolyzed water and trees are planted.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

I’m a member of this lunar camp. I get up at 8 o’clock earth time every day to wash and check the earth’s messages. In the morning, I will check whether the earth has sent materials, and check the production of crops. In the afternoon, I will drive to explore the moon and collect samples. I’ll do some experiments in the lab in the evening. You’d better go to bed at 10 p.m.
