Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

In this project we have to design a moon camp, think where we will place it, what parts it will have, for how many people. To do all this we will have to go looking for information and gradually we will go informing to create an excellent camp, when everything is ready, we will have to make a design of accommodation in tikerad, so the design of our camp will be very clear and it will look very good what type of camp we want to do or where we want to locate it. We will also have to know how we’re going to do things in the camp, how we’re going to eat or how we’re going to have food for a long time, create a garden or other methods, how we’re going to the bathroom, how we’re going to sleep or how we breathe.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the Lunar Poles

Why did you choose this location?

We will place the camp at the poles of the moon, because at the poles of the moon the “meteorites” come down more, being at the ends of the moon the “meteorites” fall more difficult, besides there is more icy water, so we can get more easily the water. Our camp will be in the lunar craters of the South.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

Our base will have several rooms among which you will find paths of passage, strong doors of passage, elaboration of our base with aluminum and underground location.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

Inside the Moon there is icy water, also in the poles there is more icy water, if we take it out, heat it and filter it, we could wake up for plants or for us.

We will take several wings of the soil to cultivate in it we will use the excrements and we will take advantage of the earth of the moon, there is a special light that helps to forget the plants and we will place it in the room of the garden. We will also generate algae that will provide all the vitamins, proteins and lipids we need.

We collect solar energy with solar panels. Stored energy passes through a wire to an inverter and transforms heat into electricity. Part of the electricity goes to workshops and facilities. Another part is stored in batteries.

We carry a machine and then take water and separate oxygen and hydroxide to get oxygen, plus

we will carry bulkheads.

2 H2O → 2 H2 + O2. In addition, algae and plants can also contribute by consuming CO2, releasing oxygen and eliminating liquid and volatile organic pollutants, such as ammonia or benzene, from human presence and machines.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

The astronauts will get up at 7 a.m., get ready and start working at 8 a.m. They will take care of the first plants, if the water is fine, light, oxygen… If any vegetables have grown, they will take more seeds.
Subsequently, in the second part of the morning will be the maintenance of the camp until 14:00 hours, in the midday baits, there will be a meal of algae or vegetables. In the afternoon you will have to be in contact with the soil to explain if everything is going well or have some problem to solve it.
There are also days when you can read a book or watch movies, paint, listen to music… These are activities that can be done if you finish quickly. Then, at 21:00 will have dinner and after dinner will run out of work, the day of the march has ended more or less and those who want to go to sleep, and if they have not worked much and they want to do something to take a tour if it has not taken long to have fun as going out in the afternoon, as we have said films, book, music…
