Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

We mainly divide the camp into three parts: 1. Scientific research, 2. Life and 3. Breeding. In the scientific research section, we have signal transmission tower, rocket and scientific research station. It can perfectly guarantee the functions of transportation, observation and scientific research. In this part of life, astronauts have all kinds of facilities: single dormitory, double dormitory, restaurant, rest station… To ensure the quality of life in space.
Finally, in the breeding sector, there are all kinds of animals in the farm; there are all kinds of vegetables in the greenhouse for people to eat; the “small forest” ensures high-quality air, which makes the astronauts forget to return.This is our beautiful MOON BASE!

Close to the Lunar Poles

Why did you choose this location?

Because the location near the equator of the moon is relatively flat, we can build our basement with suitable light. No matter to farm, vegetable greenhouse, or to green plant, it has effect. Facing the earth, signal transmission, astronomical observation and rocket transportation are very convenient.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

We’re going to use labor & machinery to work together. The main labor is to transform the appearance and transport equipment. The machine is mainly used to build foundation, build walls… The main materials used are: glass, iron and concrete. Glass will be used for “little forest” and windows. Concrete and iron are required for foundations and solid exterior walls. At the same time, a lot of plastic is needed to build vegetable greenhouses, oxygen and water transportation pipelines.

We use storage tanks to store water and recycle waste water.

We use our own grain storage and vegetable greenhouses.

Use solar energy to generate electricity.

Use stored air, use green plants to absorb carbon dioxide, produce oxygen and recycle.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

In the morning, the astronauts woke up in the dormitory. After eating breakfast in the restaurant, each assigned tasks. Some observe and study in scientific research stations, some check vegetables in vegetable greenhouses, and some take care of pigs and cattle on farms. At noon, after lunch, they will walk in the “small forest”, and then continue to work… After a hard day, they have a big dinner in the canteen. Then come to the lounge, where there are comfortable sofa, hot coffee, books, TV for their entertainment. Finally, I went back to my dormitory and fell asleep.
