Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

We are a team of three best friends, Mary, Lambros and  Thanos. We are students in the 9th Primary School of Komotini, Greece. We started Tinkering face to face in the classroom and soon had our own classroom in Tinkercad. We decided to make our Moon camp under the Surface of the Moon for protection. We have:

on floor -1, a Lab, a Kitchen, a sitting room and the WC

on -2, 4 Bedrooms

on -3, an algea tank, our Greenhouse, a swimming pool and our Gym

on -4, we have our power store generator

On the surface we have our dress room and our 3D printer in an inflatable Geodesic Dome

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Lunar lava tubes

Why did you choose this location?

Inspired by what we learned while planning our Mission and Space Camp to the Moon and especially by the videos of Paxi and Airbus Foundation we decided to make our Moon Camp in the lava tubes to protect ourselves from cosmic radiation,  Meteorites falling and the extreme temperature conditions.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

We will take a 3D printer with us that will help us built our camp with Lunar soil. At the beginning we wil stay in the inflatable Geodesic Domes and soon get under ground.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

We recycle water and our classmates are starting to drill soon on the polls to supply us with enough water supplies.

We have our garden and also our food supplies from earth. To live on the Moon we have shared with our classmates all the necessary work and supplies. One team will supply us wwhen needed from Earth.

We have one team in the river of the Shakelton crater that supplies us with energy from solar panneles we store it on floor -4.

Our algae tank and plants in the Greenhouse will provide us with the necessary air but we also create air from regolith and store it.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

We experiment, cook, work out, swim in our pool, grow our own vegetables, monitor, analyze data and hang out. We make Moon walks, collect samples, take photos and  gaze our wonderful cosmos and Earth.
