Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2019-2020

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Our lunar base, by choosing to build in a lava tunnel and using polyethylene materials, avoiding meteorite impact and ultraviolet radiation. Through the greenhouse  and oxygen supply system (using electrolyzed water to generate oxygen), a relay signal network control system is established. Through the control equipment of APP system, the intelligent control system is achieved. The drill car is used to take water and the circulating filter device is used for recycling. Because the moon uses solar power and nuclear power for a long time in the daytime to generate electricity for storage and utilization, food is supplied by soil planting and animal husbandry

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Lunar lava tubes

Why did you choose this location?

There are two reasons: (1) The temperature at night is warmer in lava tubes than in other places. You need to know that the temperature is -120 degree on the moon!

(2) There are no meteorites and no radiation because it is underground.

Water
Food
Electricity
Air

Water can be found from both Poles of the moon. We can use driller.
Then, we have a water recycling system to make good use of water.

1. We can use the earth’s soil in the planting room to use the ultraviolet light of the earth’s ultraviolet light as the sun to grow some vegetables. For meat, we can use professional vacuum rockets to take cattle from the earth to the moon and then raise them in a pasture
2. The fire uses five machines that make gas (to change oxygen into gas)
3. Restaurants use power and nuclear magnetic iron to make gravity
4. The sofa is equipped with automatic oxygen supply device and radiation absorber (radiation can be transferred into Wi Fi)

Solar power system:
Design and construction of 1000kW solar power station: 3400 sets of NASA standard solar modules (60 pieces of 6 * 10, standard power of 300W) are used. Nuclear power system: We can use nuclear power to generate electricity at night and in case of emergency.
Nuclear cell of RTG (Radioactive Thermoelectric Generator) is used to generate electricity, which is based on the heat generated by the decay of plutonium-238.
We could establish a lithium battery storage station of 2000kW underground, and then use part of the stored electricity for constant temperature control system of the power plant.

1. Use plants to excrete oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide to purify the air.
2. Three oxygen generators are used to produce oxygen. The principle is to produce oxygen through the electrolysis of water.
3. The laboratory with chemical reagents, uses devices to study lunar soil and other substance.
4. Using computer to simulate moon storms to make the moon safer.
5. Internal network in the laboratory to communicate with the outside, and to control the laboratory equipments: for example, the computer can adjust the temperature, so that people can work comfortably, such as controlling electrical appliances and so on.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

The outer shell of the lunar base is made of lunar soil and adhesive by 3D printing. The inner shell and internal facilities of lunar base are made of polyethylene materials, including inner wall, table, bed, internal passage, etc., and the inner shell and internal facilities are built with 3D printing. There is a gap between the inner shell and the outer shell. The temperature of the inner shell is maintained by nuclear power. The surface layer of the inner shell of the base uses gold foil to protect cosmic rays and radiation in lunar soil.

The Moon environment is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

1、We have a lot of resources to make oxygen so the astronaut won’t exposed to the  vacuum

2、Each building here is made of glass, with radiation-proof polyethylene film on the outside.

3、About meteorites,we have machines that can change the meteorite’s orbits,or,

we can use missile to destroy the meteorites. look! It is so safe. Please come and join us!

Welcome to my moon base! Here, you don’t need to worry about safety,

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

An astronaut’s day

7:00 Astronauts get up in the morning, brush their teeth and wash their faces, and start doing physical tests;

8:30 For breakfast, we use the earth’s soil to grow and hydroponic vegetables, livestock and cattle for astronauts to eat, after breakfast astronauts go to work in the laboratory, the laboratory uses the control center internal network system, the development APP specialized software, each equipment will be connected to the network, control and operation as required, using the network intelligent control system to collect and process information;

12:00 Prepare lunch, make salad with vegetables and fruits of growing value and eat beef from earth;

Take photos in the observation bin at 14:00, enjoy the beauty of the universe, then continue to do data analysis work in the laboratory, the laboratory’s thermostatic control system, let astronauts work in a comfortable environment;

16:00 Spacecraft repairs and refuels. The energy resources of the Moon City are abundant because of the use of solar energy to generate electricity of nuclear use of nuclear energy for re-storage,

Start exercise at 20:00 treadmill running, reading and watching movies and other leisure activities.

After 22:00 wash into the lounge, accompanied by wonderful music into sleep. Music can stop automatically after sleeping because there is intelligent control system control.
