Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

With the continuous development of human science and technology, the exploration of the moon is also a more comprehensive and thorough In order to make the astronauts can better for scientific research work and daily life on the moon, summer camp activities at the same time, we create a can adapt to the complex geographical environment and poor living environment of the moon’s camp This camp collection and scientific research of life entertainment, fitness and other places, also can grow fruits and vegetables, to ensure that astronauts can get adequate nutrition The moon camp and intelligent robot, can help astronauts in daily work.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

  Construction of the ideal location can make use of the natural shade According to the topography of the moon, the natural formation of the cave Canyon or craters, to establish the moon camp, these places can give astronauts a very safe habitats, can prevent the intense radiation from the sun and the universe, no small meteorites, no dust, no day and night temperature of volatility.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.

Humans can live went up from the earth with inflatable or packaged module, and then built by lunar robot assembling, outside the camp with other materials to cover a layer, use the table of cuttings and the 3D printing technology, without considering the long distance transportation problem, and the maximum energy savings Such as the moon tables made of brick or cuttings with fungi in combination with organic waste, so as to achieve the multiple protection.

The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.

Moon camp houses are made of special material, can resist radiation meteorite attack and the moon moon base on the mature detection system, when a meteorite attack will notify the astronauts, the astronauts can stay in the room to avoid Between each building has a channel at the same time, can ensure the safety of astronauts can move between the building Planting place can ensure that astronauts self-sufficiency, meet the demand of normal life

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

Lunar ice in permanent shadow craters would be the most accessible source of hydrogen and oxygen, melting the ice with mirrors reflecting sunlight and capturing water vapor through the dome above the craters, or installing a furnace on the rover and adding tropical ice soil to get the water.

Cabbage and potato kind of food can be closed greenhouses in LED light for a hydroponic.

Solar photovoltaic cells can generate electricity, while solar concentrators can generate heat. Lasers can transfer energy from sunlit areas to shaded areas. Solar-powered electrolyzers can split water into oxygen and hydrogen, which can then be used to make fuel or put into a fuel cell to generate energy.

Oxygen can also be from the moon in the soil debris (also called table) for solar concentrator, namely the mirror and prism group, can produce high temperature, the metal oxide oxygen is released It can produce water and metal by-products But this process requires a hydrogen If unable to mining the moon ice, hydrogen must be brought up from the earth.

Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example: commercial, scientific, and/or tourist purposes).

Moon camp is a living and working area established by humans on the moon.
The main purposes of establishing a base on the moon are as follows:
1.To better carry out scientific activities such as astronomical observation;
2.Establish a space power station on the moon for the use of the earth and develop various mineral resources on the moon;
3.Provide a foothold for human beings to explore further goals;
4.To provide construction materials or even propellant for spaceships flying to farther planets;
5.For the more distant future of human migration to the moon.

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

In the morning, when the sun shines into the astronauts’ quarters, a day of intense and enjoyable work begins. First of all, with the help of the robot, I will check the safety of each building and check whether the instrument is running normally. Then, I will pick my favorite vegetables from the plantation and start to make breakfast. After breakfast, drive the rover to the site for field survey and sample collection. After working for a few hours, the astronauts went back to lunch. After lunch, do a brief exercise and then take a lunch break. After the nap, I went to the scientific research base to conduct data analysis on the samples collected in the morning for scientific research. Tick, the earth began to call the astronauts. So the astronauts began to report to the ground staff for the day, planning the next day’s work tasks. When the day’s work is over, astronauts can go back to their resting place, read their favorite books, then fall asleep and look forward to the next day.
