Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2020-2021
In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description
The first phase of the Ecate group provides the expedition of various robots/rovers (one with a 3d printer, one with a scraper to level the ground, one with a robotic arm to place the bricks printed and an excavator one) to localize a place suitable for the construction of the first structures and it will expand in time. |

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?
The chosen position is south near the crater Shackleton, since after some research it’s said that it is possible to extract H2O from the “ice from impact” coming from the asteroids and regolith from the ground for the construction of the buildings. How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques and materials you would use.
For the construction of the hangar it will be necessary to excavate a rectangular hole that will be used as the underground floor and later it will be shielded with metal slabs used for the walls and roof/flooring of the upper floor, the access to the underground floor will be with a hydraulic ramp situated out of the base. The superior part will have a semi-cylindrical shape similar to that of high speed tunnels, the schelton of the structure will also be in metal and later covered with various layers of regolith for a higher protection, inside will be present various configurations of walls that will form the internal rooms. The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them.
The first circular module will have a bedroom, the main bathroom, the showers, the laundry, the panic room and the gym plus an external airlock to go out.The second circular module will have a nursery and various research laboratories. The third circular module that links the domes 1,2 and 4 will be established as headquarters of the base and it will include a dining room, the kitchen, a secondary bathroom, the capitan office of the expedition / the office of the expedition captain?), the communication zone, an emergency power station and the control room of the base systems. The fourth module, the one with the greater diameter will be used as a greenhouse with an aquarium and also as a stocking area for ice and water. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:

Water

Food

Electricity

Air

the water needs will be satisfied First of all with the supply from the earth, secondly through the recovery of the impact ice (comets or asteroids) through pre-arranged rovers, which will collect and transport them to a storage area where through the day-night excursion will pass from the solid to the liquid state will then be analyzed and then inserted into the closed cycle of the waters of the base |
The food will be coming from a huge greenhouse that will provide food for all the crew members |
The power will be produced with a large field of solar panels; solar panel will also be placed on top of the hangar and a hydrogen generator inside the green house. |
The air will be controlled by an eletronic system that will keep monitoring the levels of air in the base, we will also be able to gain oxygen from the plants of the greenhouse. |
Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp (for example: commercial, scientific, and/or tourist purposes).
The pourpouse of our base will be an economic exportation of our coltivations and mineral material comin from the lunar soil. We will also have a scientific pourpose, thanks to all loboratories (biological and geological, an astronomy center, physics and chimical |

Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.
A possible day could be; after waking up and after having breakfast, the morning will be with laboratory work, then it will be lunch time and after that the crew will have their daily training in the gym. After having dinner the astronauts will be free to handle their time as they like for example; reading a book, looking at the universe from the observatory or taking a walk on the lunar ground; all of this thanks to a program with the partition of the timetables 24h on 24h. |
