Project description

Our base is called Armstrong in homage of the first man who went on the moon in 1969. Our base can welcome at least 6 people. Almost of the establishment will be underground to protect the astronauts and the tight will be on the moon to get all the sun that the algae need to grow. The tight will has a special glass to protect the algae from too strong UV rays.

Why do your astronaut want to go to the Moon and build a Moon Camp?

Our astronauts want to go on the moon to create a population on the moon. They also go on the moon to do some research to learn new things aout the moon

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar poles

Why did you choose this location?

We chose this emplacement because the temperatures are more comfortable for the astronauts (0 to -55 Celsius degrees). Also, there is more sun rays in this emplacement, and it will help us to produce energy.

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe how you can use the Moon’s natural resources, and which materials you would need to bring from Earth.

Our moon camp will have an exterior part to enter in the base, but the biggest part will be underground to protect the astronauts from the meteorites and the UV radiations. For the exterior part, a 10 to 20 cm layer of polyethylene will protect the peoples from dangerous radiation. The rest of the habitation will be built with regolith.

How does your Moon Camp protect and provide shelter to your astronauts against the Moon’s harsh environment.

Our lunar camp will be almost totally buried in the ground to protect the astronauts from meteorites since the moon does not have an atmosphere to protect them. Also, the part that will be on the surface of the moon will be made from regolith, lunar sand and urine to create a kind of ultra-resistant brick that will be made by a 3D printer, directly printed on the moon. This will minimize the Earth/Moon trips.

On the Moon, resources are very scarce, but during long Moon missions, astronauts cannot rely on resupply missions from the Earth. Explain how your Moon Camp will provide astronauts with sustainable access to basic needs like water, food, air and power.

Water

Because we are situated on the poles, big ice zones can be drill with a heated drill and after, we will convey the water to the filtration station who is connected to the moon camp.

Food

The astronauts will eat algae and vegetable who will grow in the tight or they also can eat dehydrated food.

Electricity

We will use rotative solar panels to collect a maximum of sun. The extra energy will be stock in giant battery. Because we are situated on the poles, we will have 14 days of sun and 14 days of darkness.

Air

To have good air, a lot of plants will use the CO2 to do good air. Also, the airlock will reduce the good air who will go outside so we will reduce a lot of time the same oxygen.

What would you include in your astronaut training programme, to help prepare the astronauts for a Moon mission?

Our astronaut training program will include mechanic lessons so, if there is a prblem on the moon camp, they can repare it. Also, they will have secourism lessons because if someone has a problem, they can check the problem and give to the person the good medication.
