Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

I have designed this Moon Camp with the objective that two astronauts could survive on the Moon and I think that they could do it with this base.

It is a very functional base which has rooms for two people, a communication antenna , which will allow them to communicate with the Earth . It also has a laboratory for future research , two greenhouses that will provide food and oxygen to the base . The crops will grow with to the water supply that will be possible thanks to the treatment plant and its distributor that will make the watering of the crops possible. The base also consists of a shuttle which will make it possible for a spacecraft to take off and land. The base also has a fairly considerable power source that consists of solar panels that will provide power to the base, the water treatment plant and its distributor. Finally, the base is also provided with some conditioned corridors that isolate the base and astronauts from the moon’s lack of oxygen.

Why did you choose this location?

I have chosen this location because thanks to it we could get the ice that we would use to get the water to be able to supply the base and be able to supply water to the crops, another reasons is because near the poles the sun would shine and we could supply energy to the base.

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

I would build it with a giant 3D machine. This machine would be taken disassembled from the Earth and would be assembled on the moon. The material that we would use would be PVC because it is a cheap and light material for its use.


Water will be provided thanks to the ice obtained and subsequently heated and converted into a liquid state.

Crops will provide the necessary food.

The Moon Camp will be powered by energy obtained from solar panels.

There will be air because crops photosynthesize and produce oxygen.

The Moon Camp will have protection thanks to conditioned corridors that protect astronauts and entrances in the Camp.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

The astronauts wake up , eat their breakfast obtained from the crops. Then , while one of them performs maintenance on the solar panels on the bases , the other one will perform maintenance on the solar panels on the outside . After that, one will irrigate the crops and the other will check the oxygen, water and energy levels. They take a break for lunch. Later , which one of them will focus on the progress of the studies done there and the other will go exploring. The last task is to establish communication with the Earth to report all the facts and data got during. Finally , the day will end.
