Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Our colony will be underground, we also have a laboratory to do research and study samples that we collect on the moon. Inside the camp, we have four bathrooms, two offices, four bedrooms… our house is located inside the lunar lava tubes. For breathing we will use electrolysis, or regolith, for energy we will use solar panels, for protection we will not have problems because we will be four metres deep.

Why did you choose this location?

We chose this location as it contains pleasant temperatures between minus 20º and 0º, and also has protection against meteorites and radiation!

How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

We will use regolith and Earth materials.


We will bring water from Earth and extract ice water from the Moon. Our moon camp will also have a water recycling system.

We will cultivate algae and some vegetables in our greenhouse. We will also bring some food from the Earth.

We will use solar panels located on the lunar surface.

To go to the Moon we need air, so we will use electrolysis to produce oxygen. We will also extract oxygen from regolith.

To live on the moon our moon base has to protect us. As our moon base is underground we don’t need to worry about radiation and meteorites.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

The astronaut starts the day by having breakfast and doing his hygiene. Then he checks all the different equipment present in the camp, searching for possible issues and repairing what needs to be repaired. After lunch, he is going outside to collect some soil samples to analyze in the laboratory. Before dinner, there is still time for an intense exercise session and to check all health indicators. After dinner, he enjoys some free time and goes to sleep.
