Moon Camp Explorers Gallery 2020-2021

In Moon Camp Explorers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Tinkercad. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

Our lunar camp consists of two parts: above ground and underground. The above ground area is the landing and launching pad of the rocket, as well as the solar power generation and power storage power station, and the planting area. Underground is the astronaut’s living and office area and material storage area.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

The poles of the moon

Why did you choose this location?

The longer sunshine at the two poles can make the crops grow rapidly

How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Which materials would you use?

We plan to use toughened glass and on-site materials. The raw material is made of limestone contained in the lunar rock, water made from liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen and lunar sand.

Explain how your Moon Camp will provide the astronauts with:
Water
Food
Electricity
Air

We will get water by melting the ice. To ensure the reuse of water resources to the greatest extent through water circulation system

We grow a lot of usable crops in the growing areas, and unmanned spaceships bring food supplies on a regular basis

There is enough light on the surface of the moon, so we use solar energy for power generation, but the time of light on the surface of the moon and the time of lack of light are very long, so we will store the excess energy and assist nuclear power generation to ensure the emergency.

Oxygen is made from electrolyzed water and trees are planted.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

t’s master Peng, it’s the astronauts of the moon camp. We spent a long day on the moon, so we had to spend time on the earth. I got up at 6:00 in the morning, washed my face quickly, put on my work clothes and went to the kitchen. My colleague Master Li has been making baked potatoes there. While we were chatting, we received an order from earth that asked me to check the w214 part of the rocket.

I went out at 7:30 in the morning, then finished the repair at 9:00 and returned to the base. I went to the lab to register the base data. The report shows that there is not enough water and the oxygen content is decreasing. I told Master Li and Mr. Peng.

We immediately began to work. Master Li is operating our robot. The concave mirror melts the ice into water. Mr. Peng and I went to the greenhouse. We turned on the LED lights and added some organic matter to the green algae. Master Li later checked the data, we have enough water, oxygen content increased by 5%. We had Chinese cabbage and vacuum packed steak for dinner. At 8 p.m., we had an online meeting. Our boss was surprised at what we did.
