Moon Camp Pioneers Gallery 2021-2022

In Moon Camp Pioneers each team’s mission is to 3D design a complete Moon Camp using Fusion 360. They also have to explain how they will use local resources, protect astronauts from the dangerous of space and describe the living and working facilities.

Project description

The purpose of our base is to serve astronauts on the moon for exploration, to develop lunar resources, and to support astronauts living on the moon.At first, a rocket will carry some resources, 3D printers and a lunar rover to the moon. The rover will collect lunar soil and integrate it with the materials it carries for building construction, ensuring astronauts’ exploration and life on the moon.In the second stage, the astronauts will carry part of the water resources, earth crop seeds, and daily necessities. After arriving on the moon, they will use 3D printers to build basic facilities. In the third stage, the lunar base will generate its own energy, be self-sufficient, and conduct further exploration and research on the moon

2.1 Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Shackleton Crater is built on the South Pole of the moon. The South Pole of the moon has a long time of sunlight, which is conducive to the development of solar energy.And there’s a lot of water ice in the crater, and when the water ice is collected and broken down, it makes hydrogen and oxygen, which can be used as rocket fuel, and oxygen for people to breathe.From this perspective, Shackleton Crater is a treasure

2.2 How do you plan to build your Moon Camp? Describe the techniques, materials and your design choices.

We will send modular building components via multiple launch vehicles.In addition, the 3d printer was transported and the construction was carried out using lunar soil and some metal and radiation-proof materials. The construction was divided into three parts 1.Lunar rover with solar panels, radio stations, power station 2. The construction of the infrastructure (3) the interior of the main building of the cultivation of plant food tank is divided into three research layers, and layer, exercise and rest and life, we will use the electrolysis of water technology and sodium hydroxide to obtain oxygen for the astronaut to breathe, and at the same time with the method of hydroponic cultivation of food

2.3 The environment on the Moon is very dangerous for the astronauts. Explain how your Moon Camp will protect them. (maximum 150 words)

Solar panels provide electricity and store it all the time.Ideally, the camp would also build an energy station on the moon using helium-3, which could provide a lot of power to power the rover for exploration

Air circulation uses sodium peroxide to absorb carbon dioxide exhaled by astronauts and convert it into oxygen. It can also be combined with crops and, later, electrolysis water when there is enough water available

2.5 Explain what would be the main purpose of your Moon Camp.

The main purpose is to serve astronauts to better explore the moon and prepare for human landing on the moon and other planets in the future. 3.1 Describe a day on the Moon for your Moon Camp astronaut crew.

You got out of bed in the morning, you are the first thing is a good suit to wear, start today a day of lunar exploration, along the pole falls on the second floor of the camp, you eat breakfast, after breakfast you need to undertake the necessary physical condition every day to check to make sure that your body health, then you need to go outside to check the work situation of solar panels, most of the source of energy, this is your camp,You can drive the lunar rover, then to explore on the moon, in the afternoon, you need to check plant tank plant growth condition, the vegetables here is your part of the food source, then you need to undertake necessary exercise every day to keep your muscle and bone health, after dinner you can use the radio contact to your family on earth,Tell them about the wonderful things that have happened on your moon.
